Dear Mom and Dad,
I just got back from a Battalion Artillery test. We were out in the field since the 12 th. We had a hard time shooting because it snowed quite a bit and our observers couldn't see anything. Our test area is about thirty miles from our present position.
I was supposed to be on an east coast shipment leaving the 19 th along with four others from the battery but something went wrong. They're only sending one man. That will leave me number four on the list.
I had plenty of Christmas cards. I had a few to spare so I gave them to my buddies.
I'm starting to receive the Tribune but the paper is a month old. Today I got the papers of December 14-15-16-17.
Thank you for the birthday card. I received a letter and the Sporting News from you today.
I'm very tired tonight. We got up this week on the average of 4:30 am. It was cold. I didn't mind because the time went quick and it got me off of the same old grind of the Battery.
I have one more picture if I can find it.
Well, this is all for now. We should have tomorrow free.
