Dear Mom and Dad,

Maybe you can't tell but I'm writing with my new Eversharp pen. I bought a $14.50 pen and pencil set from the post exchange for $8.00. It's well worth it.

I got my films back today. Damn! they sure butchered them. It's enough to make a man sick. I'll send you the negatives. I hope they come out alright for you. One or two of them are good I know.

There isn't much to say. Today was a very pleasant day. I don't know whether or not I told you but they took my carbine away and gave me a 45 caliber "grease gun". It's really a "mean" weapon. It will throw out 45 cal. slugs at the rate of about 500 per minute. One 45 slug will tear an arm or leg off. It's a hell of a thing to keep clean. It's all metal, no wooden stock etc.

That's all for now.
