| You may go directly to the collection, The Hotchkiss Map Collection in American Memory. The Hotchkiss Map Collection contains cartographic items made by Major Jedediah Hotchkiss (1828-1899), a topographic engineer in the Confederate Army. These maps were used by Generals Robert E. Lee and “Stonewall” Jackson in developing strategies for battles. Also included are copies of Hotchkiss’s field notes and materials Hotchkiss created after the war was over when he served as a consulting engineer. |
