Unit V: Creating Web Page Timelines

Themes

Themes should unite several projects. For example, timelines might join together projects on the themes of:

  • Entertainment
    • films of the 1920s;
    • musical films of the 1930s;
    • women and the blues;
    • swing dance; and
    • vaudeville.

  • Health and Medicine
    • doctors in World War I;
    • nurses in the Armed Forces;
    • public health threats such as polio, tuberculosis, and whooping cough; and
    • women nurses in the early 1900s.

  • Sports
    • boxing in the 1930s;
    • early automobile racing; and
    • baseball during wartime.

  • Domestic Life
    • radio and television in the home;
    • the rise of suburbia;
    • Women's roles in the 1950s; and
    • toys of the 1940s and 1950s.

  • World War II
    • D-Day and Operation Overlord;
    • experiences during the Holocaust; and
    • Tuskegee Airmen.

  • Transportation
    • first Model T-Fords;
    • styling and marketing of automobiles in the 1950s; and
    • Roadsters.

  • Scientific Advances
    • race to the moon
    • food processing inventions
