<p>To the Honorable the Judge of the circuit court of Sangamon County AD 1854</p>

<p>Your Orator, Alexander B. Irwin Respectfully shows that on or at out the <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word">  <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> 1852 one Hugh B. Irwin &amp; one Hiram A. Stevens entered with partnership in and about some sheep &amp; cattle in Sangamon &amp; Menard Counties and that Hugh B. Irwin &amp; Hiram F. Stevens was to pay dollar &amp; dolor or share and share alike for said cattle &amp; sheep and to share and to share alike and to divide in profits dollar and dollar or share alike and to do as partners &amp; to share as partners as in supposed by your orator. Your orators says &amp; alleges that said firm of Irwin &amp; Stevens or Steven &amp; Irwin <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> and cattle &amp; sheep and above the same to St. Louis in the State of Missouri and that most or all said sheep &amp; cattle was sold in the St. Louis or along the road. Your orator says and alleges that said Stevens got all the money from said sales or sale and kept the sum for his own private use; having never accounted to said Irwin in his lifetime nor to your orator or others since. Your orator shows that said Hugh Irwin did <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> in Menard County on or about the year AD 1853 &amp; said Stevens living &amp; now being in Sangamon Co. Ills. and that your orator has duly  <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word">  <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> letters of administration on said Irwin's estate and a copy of which is herewith filed and prayed to be <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> as  <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> of this bill and <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> (a1

Your orator therefore prays for division according to partnership law, rules &amp; regulations and that said defendant  be compelled to make a true statement of the acct &amp; dealing &amp; allegations herein; but this oath of the defendant is hereby ex? waived according to the statement of the State of Illinois</p>

<p>And your orator prays for division of the moneys or funds &amp; partnership as above aid of the aforesaid firm and that a true account be had &amp; attained then of in this said and for each further <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> decrees &amp; relief as shall become necessary just &amp; equitable in the premises</p>

<p>Your orator Alexander B. Irwin prays that Hiram F. Stevens may be made defendant to this bill&mdash; that the Peoples writ of subpoena issue for him &mdash; that he answer <omit reason="illegible" extent="1 word"> n&amp; particularly as aforesaid, but not on oath and as in duty bound your orator will ever pray <lb>
