Congressional documents pertaining to the granting of permanent status to the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce within the U.S. Department of Commerce. Documents include a February 25, 1924, letter from Commerce Secretary Herbert Hoover revealing the existence of a feud between the Commerce Department and the Agriculture Department. A November 13, 1924, presidential staff memo cites census data on foreigners living and working in the U.S. (specifically, Lithuanians, Italians, Poles, Hungarians, and Scandinavians).
