Indian Land Cessions in the United States, 1784 to 1894

Tribe: Chehalis, Klatsop, Chinook, Klikitat and other tribes.

Description of cession or reservation: Country between Nisqually and Quiniaelt territory on N., Cascade mountains on E., and Columbia river on the S.

Historical data and remarks: These tribes originally claimed this territory. The U. S. took possession of it without any treaty, assigning to the Indians first only one small reserve (Chehalis) and afterward another (Shoalwater Bay). The territory thus acquired by the U. S. is here shown.
