of the said batallions of Pensylvania forces, was read, recommending Dr. Jones to be brigade chaplain to those three batallions.1

The committee appointed to consider what proposals ought to be made to Mons. du Coudray, brought in a report, which was taken into consideration; and after debate,
The Committee appointed to consider what Proposals ought to be made to Monsr. Du Coudray, report,
That Monr. Du Coudray be appointed a Major General with the Powers, Emoluments and Privileges, annexed to that Rank, and that a Train of Artillery be allotted for his Command separate from that under the Command of Brigadier General Knox.
That the officers accompanying Mons Du Condray should have the Ranks proposed for them in France together with the Pay and Emoluments annexed to those Ranks in the service of the United States.
ThatDollars be paid to Monr. Du Coudray as a full Compensation for his serious Loss of time and Risque of his person in a troublesome and dangerous Voyage to America.2

Resolved, That the farther consideration thereof be postponed till to morrow.
A letter, of the 18, from General Washington, enclosing a copy of a letter, of the 14, to him from General Schuyler, Fort Edward, also, a letter of the 14th from General St. Clair, at Fort Edward, with a copy of the proceedings of a council of war for evacuating Ticonderoga and Mount Independence, were read:3

Ordered, That the letter from General St. Clair, with the paper enclosed, be referred for publication to the Committee of Intelligence; and, then, that the same, together

Adjourned to 10 o'Clock to Morrow.
