Sir: In the absence of the Secretary at War, I have the honor to transmit to your Excellency a letter from Joseph Martin Esquire Agent for the Cherokee Nation of Indians dated North Carolina Hillsborough July 25th . 1788, with enclosures, and an extract of a letter from James White Esquire late Superintendant of Indian Affairs for the Southern District dated Hillsborough Augt . 1st . 1788.
