- Summary
- The eleventh and penultimate work from De Mes Amis, Les Animaux, the tuna takes the pianist on the most challenging technical journey, through passages that literally appear as waves upon the page. The notation is intimidating, but every passage fits well under the hand and is ‘easy’ after the initial visual assault. Fast left-hand and split scales and arpeggios, as well as a sustained and powerful melody, are the primary challenges of this piece. This is the longest piece of the collection, with a performance time of about seven minutes, so stamina and attention are also developed.
