Kid Millions Nicholas, Fayard performer Nicholas, Harold performer Nicholas Brothers performer Murphy, George performer Film 1934-11-10 Samuel Goldwyn Samuel Goldwyn's film starring Eddie Cantor features one musical number, "Minstrel Night" in which a blacked up Cantor tap dances with the Nicholas Brothers, Harold and Fayard, who flank him; dancing with witty rhythmic combinations and trading steps with each other, the high speed tap dance of the brothers eventually squeezes Cantor out of the trio. Ethel Merman, George Murphy (as Interlocutor) and Ann Southern featured in "Mandy" with the Goldwyn Girls (Lucille Ball in the chorus). In the last two choruses of the musical number, there is a challenge dance, not so much between the brothers and Eddie Cantor in blackface, as between the brothers themselves. In it, side-brushing wing steps and back-sliding trenches are passed back and forth, and these in turn progress into tip-of-the-toe wings.
