- MGM's spectacular and immensely entertaining biography of the flamboyant impresario Florenz Ziegfeld. Rainer (as Anna Held) won an Academy Award for her classic telephone scene. Also won Oscars for Best Picture and Dance Direction by Seymour Felix, epitomized by the "A Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody" which he supervised. Ray Bolger tap dances in the scene "You Gotta Pull Strings" in which he taps, spins, skids.
