Three World War II buddies meet ten years after their discharge and find they have nothing in common. Some pungent musical numbers, but the best is the "Ash Can Dance" in which the three (Kelly, Dailey and Kidd) tap dance in the street with a large ash can top on one foot. Gene Kelly has roller-skating solo in "I Like Myself," where he escapes from a troublesome scene in a gymnasium, goes to a skating rink where his mood picks up, and sails out onto the sidewalk, singing and all the while gliding through nifty skating figures and tap steps.
