Through 2/3/1973. Musical comedy revival from 1925 Broadway musical set in 1925.
Production supervised by Busby Berkeley and directed by Burt Shelilove with musical staging and choreography by Donald Sadler. Tap choreography supervised by Mary Ann Niles and Ted Cappy.

Bobby Van 1971 Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical; Helen Gallagher 1971 Tony Award winner for Best Actress in a Musical; Patsy Kline 1971 Tony Award winner Best Featured Actress in a Musical; Donald Sadler 1971 Tony Award winner Best Choreography; Burt Shelilove Tony Award nomination Best Direction of a Musical;; Donald Sadler 1971 Drama Desk Award Outstanding Choreoggraphy.

"Miss Keeler, Jack Gilford (Jimmy Smith), Helen Gallagher, Bobby Van and a large, frenetically tapping chorus made this revival a dancing show such as Broadway hadn't thrilled to in years. In this version "I Want to Be Happy" was sung by Jimmy (Gilford) and Nanette (Susan Watson), then rousingly danced by Mrs. Smith (Miss Keeler) and the chorus. Tom (Roger Rathburn) and Nanette once more embraced in "Tea For Two." Nostalgia par excellence." (Bordman 667) 861 performances, road companies thrived.; "yet, significantly, the show's great songs enjoyed no similar revival on the airways. Aging theatergoers might walk out of the theatre humming them, but rock and roll was virtually all radio and television wanted."

With the success of the Broadway revival of "No, No Nanette", tap dancing was suddenly back in vogue on stage in the also struggling Broadway musical. The stage production brought film dance greats Busby Berkeley (who "supervised" the production) and Ruby Keeler (who starred) back into the spotlight.</mods:abstract>
