<mods:abstract>Twentieth Century-Fox. Directed by Irving Cummings.
Shirley Temple (Barbara Barry); Alice Faye, Gloria Stuart, Jack Haley.

Central to the film was a tap dance, "the Military Man" three dancers-- Temple, Alice Faye and Jack Haley are dressed in military attire, looking like tin soldiers. Faye began show business as a dancer; Haley played the part of the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz." A grueling routine when the three dancers performed the sequence again to record the tap sounds. The intensified sound would then be synchronized by the visual images in the first take. Coordinating the sounds of the taps exactly was challenging to performers: in the final sound recording, the sound specialists reportedly dubbed in the taps for Temple, without her having known about it.</mods:abstract>
