Opened 12 July 1927 at the Royale Theatre, moved 12 September 1927 to the Majestic Theatre, and closed 22 October 1927 after 119 performances. The Times gave special praise to the dancing in Rang Tang. "First rate dancing is a concomitant of all Negro shows" it proclaimed for anyone who by this time didn't know what was expected of black revues. The paper was enthusiastic about the number "Monkeyland" but implied that the show foolishly attempted to imitate white practices--in this case by dividing its ensemble into show girls, ponies and ballet dancers.
