- A musical revue in two acts. Conceived by Julianne Boyd. Music by Eubie Blake, Lyrics by Noble Sissle, Andy Razaf, Johnny Brandon, Flournoy Miller. Directed by Julianne Boyd; Choreography by Billy Wilson; tap choreography by Henry LeTang. Opened 20 September 1978 at the Ambassador Theatre and closed 7 October 1979 after 439 performances.
CAST: Ethel Beatty, Terry Burrell, Leslie Dockery, Lynnie Godfrey, Gregory Hines, Maurice Hines, Mel Johnson, Jr., Lonnie McNeil, Janet Powell, Marion Ramsay, Alaina Reed, Jeffery V. Thompson.
Musical numbers from Blake's all-black musicals, including "Shuffle Along" "The Chocolate Dandies" "Tan Manhattan" "Blackbirds of 1930."
Maurice Hines in "I'm Just Wild About Harry" solo in "You've Got to Git the Gittin'."
Gregory Hines in "Baltimore Buzz" "Lowdown Blues" with company, solo in "Hot Feet" (1958).
Gregory and Maurice in "There's a Million Little Cupids in the Sky" "Dixie Moon" "If You've Never Been Vamped by a Brownskin."
Featuring the old songs of rag-and-jazz-based melodies of 95-year-old Eubie Blake who re-emerged from obscurity to become a beguiling raconteur on television. "I'm Just wild About Harry" from "Shuffle Along" (1921) and "Memories of You."
Billy Wilson and Henry LeTang receive 1979 Tony Award Nomination for Best Choreography.
