St. Louis Tap Festival
Produced by Robert L. Reed
During the last weekend in September, hoofer/producer Robert Reed presented the first St. Louis Tap Festival. The three artists Robert brought in were Brenda Bufalino, Savion Glover and Dianne Walker. Held at the Center of Contemporary Arts on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the festival moved south to the Rickman Auditorium in Arnold, MO for a two-part concert. Adam Parker, executive director for Dance St. Louis, acted as Master of Ceremonies and music was provided by the Carol Beth Trio. The first set featured four local dance studios, Becky Kern Studio, Dance Productions Unlimited, Gerri Stretz Academy and Steps Unlimited. After intermission Robert Reed opened with a flash solo and brought out his children for their duet. Yvette Glover sang, an appreciated departure from the more usual all tap format. Then Bufalino, Walker and Savion Glover performed.
