	  <mods:abstract>Southern California Tap Festival
    July 25-August 1 1993 at the Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA. Rhapsody in Taps presented the first Southern California Tap Festival. Faculty members were Linda Sohl-Donnell, Fred Strickler, Sam Weber, Dianne Walker, Billy Siegenfeld and Arthur Duncan in an intensive one week festival of dance workshops and programs concluding in a concert featuring the Festival faculty and Rhapsody in Taps. Fayard Nicholas conducted an evening workshop in classic steps with Karol Lee translating his movements. Panel discussion were emceed by Rusty Frank, author of the book Tap! The Essence of Rhythm concert had performances by Strickler, Weber and Walker. Sohl-Donnell along with company members and Fred Strickler opened and closed the concert with group pieces. Rhapsody In Taps performed "Swingin' With Cedar." Hoofers in the audience--Frances Nealy, Leonard Reed, Fayard Nicholas, Glenn Turnball and Arthur Duncan--were called up on stage to join the shim-sham in a finale. </mods:abstract>
