The Trianon presented one floor show per night, at 10:30 pm. In Ellington's first week, the 50-minute show was not built around his band but around some of its singers, plus some outside acts. Ellington acted as emcee, and appears to have accompanied the dancers and singers with just his rhythm team, assisted by Rex Stewart on cornet. The first week's floor show included dancer Marie Bryant, tap dancer Leon Cepas; with Marie Bryant closing the program with Ray Nance. From the second week on, the Ellington Band worked in for a good portion of the show which featured, in addition to Marie Bryant and others, The Three Rockets (Henry "Phace" Roberts, John Thomas, Andrew Jackson), dancers from Jump for Joy were brought in as the second act.
