<mods:abstract>Through September 23. In this, Ellington's contract in his first New York location job in five years, the band played for dancing from 7 pm-4 am, alternating with the Dave Dennis Orchestra; and also for the two floor shows at 8 pm and 12:30 am. The initial floor show program, titled "Mood Indigo" consisted of white acts exclusively to bad reviews. The revue introduced on May 25 was divided into two parts, the six-piece orchestra of pianist Dave Dennis playing show music the first half while Ellington was acting as M.C. for the June Taylor girls (dancers); Jane and Jerry Brandow (aka "Brandau"), a tap team, along with other performers. The Ellington Band played the second half, supported by dancer Letitia Hill. "Rockin' In Rhythm" the third floor show production, which followed on June 30, had the same established pattern. The June Taylor Dancers and Letitia Hill were held over, whereas the tap interlude was now done by the Callahan Sisters, with the radio Aces providing the humor.</mods:abstract>
