<mods:abstract>From the Brooklyn Daily Eagle April 14, 1901: "Uncle Tom's Cabin in its annual visit to the Gayety Theatre. All the characters in the drama are impersonated by white actors of recognized ability, but in the plantation scenes, many colored people are introduced in excellent specialties, including buck and wing dancing, the original Georgia shouters in camp meeting songs, the Magnolia quartet, an elaborately dressed cake walk and other topical plantation pastimes. The company carried three brass bands--the Creole Brass Band, a pickaninny brass band, and the Imperial White band, twenty five heads of Shetland ponies, donkeys, horses, oxen, a tally-ho coach, numerous traps, a golden chariot for little Eva and numerous novelties, all of which will be seen in the parade which will start from the theatre every day at noon and traverse the principal streets of the neighborhood."</mods:abstract>
