- Duke Ellington and his famous orchestra inaugurate a series of twice weekly broadcasts over WOR and the Mutual network from the Cotton Club in New York on the same night the new floor show at the club is given its premiere. Ethel Waters, George Dewey Washington, and the Nicholas Kids are featured...a special number for Ethel Waters called "Where is the Sun" one titled "Old Plantation" for Washington, and "Cantcha Kinda Go For Me" for the Nicholas Kids.
