Nell-Go-In Rooney, Pat performer Theatrical Performance 1900-11-17 New York Theater A bill of a burlesque, ballet and vaudeville. Produced by the Messrs. (Meyer L. and Henry B.) Sire with Irish vaudeville dancer Pat Rooney featured in the Act 3; vaudeville program with Mame Gehrue. Opened 17 November 1900 at the New York Theatre and closed 17 November 1900 after 25 performances. Born in Baltimore July 4, 1880, the son of performers, Pat Rooney first went on stage at age ten in an act with his sister, Mattie, billed as "Premiere Eccentric Dancing Act of the Business--Bar None." He once told of how as a kid in Baltimore he practiced his steps: "I'd go down to the corner grocery store where they had one of those wooden cellar floors. On that I would practice my tap dancing. It was fun because the floor had a nice hollow sound...." (Norton 1900.49).
