Bolger as Sapiens, the meek husband to Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons (Bertha Belmore) women who are at war with the men in ancient Greece; Sapiens is the cowed husband who, through a maze of plot complications turns the Amazon ladies docile and becomes king. Bolger received rave notices: "It is Ray Bolger's show...as the simpering ladylike husband he is deft enough to draw many a laugh, skirt many a snicker.
