Savion Glover's "Nu York." Television special features Savion Glover and his collaborations with various musical artists in locations around NYC. Wyclef Jean, Kirk Franklin and God's Property, Stevie Wonder, Puff Daddy and the Family, and SWV with Redman perform their music as Glover accompanies them with interpretive tap dances. He introduced the program by talking about his love for NY and the process of learning tap. In the first segment, W-J performs "Guantanamera" at a Caribbean-style street festival. Next, at the Church of the Masters in Harlem, Glover and Kirk Franklin discuss the nature of people's God-given talents, after which Franklin and the gospel choir God's Property perform "You Are the Only One." Glover and Reg. E. Gaines, writer of "Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk" visit a monument to Duke Ellington at 110th Street, discuss the big band leader's role in music, and introduce an interpretation of Ellington's "Swing a Little."

The work with five dancers, entitled "Swing a Little Funk into Gang Gang" was filmed at the waterfront next to the Brooklyn Bridge. "Looking for the Tree of Hope" is a short non-musical segment in which Glover goes to Harlem to find a plaque that is embedded in the ground at 137th Street and devoted to tap dancers. Next, Glover joins Stevie Wonder on a rooftop at Battery Park, for a collaboration on the song "Ribbon in the Sky." At the docks in Brooklyn, Puff Daddy and the Family perform "It's All About the Benjamins" after which Puff Daddy and Savion face off in a tap dance competition. Next, at Broadway's Dance Center at 56th Street and Broadway, Glover reminisces about time spent learning tap in the studio. Then he and the five dancers from from Swing a Little perform "Silk Suits" inspired by the noises of the city. In the final segment, SWV, Redman and Glover, perform the song "Lose My Cool" in a warehouse downtown. </mods:abstract>
