New York Jazz Museum: founded on 55th Street Social Event 1972-06-15 Founded in a converted carriage house at 125 West 55th Street, a benefit party to view the first exhibition, "Louis Armstrong Memorabilia." The museum, first formed by the New York Hot Jazz Society, is devoted to the entire jazz scene and is open to the public, presenting jazz films, concerts, exhibitions.
