Sing, Sing, Sing Cole, Jack performer Jack Cole Dancers performer Theatrical Performance 1947-03-26 Latin Quarter March 1947: Jack Cole's "Sing, Sing, Sing" prototype of modern jazz dance in which tap dance rhythms reserved for the feet are absorbed up into the body, opened at Chicago's Chez Paree with program of four four dances: two East Indian and two Afro-Cuban. "Sing, Sing Sing" performed to the recording made famous by King of Swing, Benny Goodman and his Big Band. Constance Valis Hill researched and wrote extensively on this work. "Sing, Sing Sing" opened at the Latin Quarter in New York the last week in March 1947: approximate opening the last week in Sunday, March 26, 1947 as this is the day the New York Sun ran a notice: "First Cafe appearance Jack Cole and His Own Dance Company with Florence Lessing."
