A benefit for the newly-organized American Tap Dance Orchestra.
Premiere of Charles Mingus' "Haitian Fight Song" chor. Brenda Bufalino
This black tie event, held at the legendary Cotton Club, featured guest performances by some of America's great tap master including Jimmy Slyde and the Copasetics. Other performers included Bill Irwin, Michael Moschen, Bob Berky, Robert Duvall, jazz pianist Barry Harris. The event was co-chaired by Honi Coles and Tommy Tune. The event was created and designed with students in mind, reaching a younger generation introducing them to jazz rhythm tap dance. - Source
