August 30, 1982 was the kickoff of the Greenwich Village Jazz Festival, with locations at Village Gate, Village Vanguard and other jazz sites in the lower West Village. Through May 1982 and through the summer, "This Is Not a Doris Day Movie" was playing at the top of the Gate; this announcement in the New York Times is the first announcement of the Copasetics and Honi Coles.
