- Throughout his career, Harold Bauer (1873-1951)was regarded as one of the greatest living pianists, a successor to the tradition of Liszt, Paderewski and Brahms; a celebrated interpreter of the music of Schumann, Brahms and Franck; and one of the first to champion the music of Debussy and Ravel. The Harold Bauer Collection contains Bauer's correspondence with many of the twentieth century's most important musical figures, holograph transcriptions and editions prepared by Bauer, and articles and speeches written by Bauer on a wide range of musical topics.
