- Abstract
- Grace McCrea was a member of the Denishawn dance company under the leadership of modern dance pioneers Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn. Along with her sister, Betty McCrea, she performed across the United States in Denishawn's vaudeville and concert tours from 1916-1919. The collection's documents and photographs detail the professional lives of the Denishawn company members and their various projects from the 1910s to the late 1960s. The collection includes programs and photographs highlighting the career of dancer Grace McCrea, as well as other company dancers such as Betty McCrea and Betty Ross. Certain members and collaborators of the Denishawn company are also represented, including Louis Horst. The majority of programs follow the careers of Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn.
