California Strawberry Festival
A celebration of the leading industry
in Ventura County, where annual strawberry revenues are $100
million from Oxnard's bountiful 6,600 berry acres. Twenty-four
companies harvest and cool more than 15,900,000 trays of berries,
which are shipped throughout North America as well as to Germany
and Japan. The event, attracting over 85,000 visitors over a
two-day period, features strawberry culinary delights, three stages
with musical entertainment, 335 arts and crafts exhibits, wine
pavilion, strolling musicians, clowns, artists, face painting,
contests, and a "Strawberryland" for children with puppets,
magicians, musicians, and a petting zoo. Project documentation
includes a six-page written report, sixteen 8 x 10 photos and their
descriptions, videotape, and promotional postcards.
