Myth and Dream: Exploring the Cultural Legacies of Florida and the Caribbean
A
3,000-square foot exhibition of art, cultural artifacts,
photographs, maps, books, manuscripts, and descriptive text panels
portraying New World cultural history of the past millennium. A
companion digital exhibition will be displayed on the World Wide
Web, enhanced by images of additional objects, in-depth text, and a
series of research articles by New World cultural history scholars.
The museum exhibition, accompanied by a catalog, educational
materials, lectures and symposia, and performance events, opened at
the Historical Museum of Southern Florida in October 1999. In the
year 2000 it will travel to five major Florida cities. The project
was developed by the Jay I. Sislak Foundation.
