Dakota County Sesquicentennial Celebration
This sesquicentennial celebration, held in 1999,
focused on making the county's history accessible and relevant to
today's residents. The highlight event was the Dakota Chautauqua, a
75-minute musical production that dramatizes county history.
Another featured event was the Homestead Reception honoring
descendants of the original settlers of Dakota County. The
sesquicentennial is documented in text, a videotape of the Dakota
Chautauqua, photographs, news clippings, and the publication Old
Days in Dakota County: Pioneer Narratives of Early County
History.
