Dear Mom and Dad,
I received your letters of June 15 & 16. Thanks for the envelopes. I haven't been able to get any. In the last 3 days we've laid nearly seventy miles of wire. It's quite a job in this heat. It's always raining on and off each day to add to the misery.
How is the vacation coming along.
I'm on guard tonight from 10 - midnight and from 1 - 6 am. I'll go in a few minutes.
According to the radio, the Sox really trimmed the Yanks in New York. Good.
The news is on the radio now. Nothing worth listening to. One of the guys that was on liaison with me is coming back from R & R tonight. He'll be damned surprised to see me here.
R & R is still off for the present time. I could be going in about a month or two if they'd start it again.
I saw another USO show. I really saw something odd. Women!! Five of them. The show wasn't too hot but it was a novelty. One of them was from Chicago.
That's all I have for now. Good night.
Love
Eddie
