Dear Mom and Dad,
No rain , plenty of sunshine today. I didn't do much work. I spent most of my time riding around. It was pretty hot. This afternoon I heard the White Sox beat Washington two games. As of today they're only four games out.
I received your letters of July 5 and 8.
They keep talking about a truce and how close they are to signing but it keeps going day after day, week after week and we're still fighting. I've almost given up hope for a cease fire.
I received the Sporting News of July 6. That's all the latest poop at present.
Love
Eddie
