Dear Mom and Dad,

I received your letter of August 5 th.

As I wrote before, they won't rotate me until the end of January. Since I have 27 points at the end of September, I still have four more months to put in before I get to leave this forsaken hole.

I got the picture of Malczewski. Yes, I know him.

I know the Duffy from Hegewisch that you mentioned. Where did you see him? Today we were practicing moving. We expect to move about 25 miles to the rear by the 20 th of August.

Dad, you won't like it when I tell you why we're going back there. I won't tell you until we do so I'll be sure.

Well, I have nothing else to write.

The girl from Kansas is still writing regularly.

I'll write again soon as usual...
