Dear Mom and Dad,
I got your letter of August 10 last night.
Today is hot and stuffy. It's only about 9;30 in the morning. I'm in the tent taking it easy. As long as nobody comes in I've got it made.
The nights over here aren't bad for sleeping. There's always a heavy dew each night. It makes it hard for us to keep our weapons from rusting. The mosquitos just about carry a person away at night.
What was "flyboy" Gindl doing at home again? Rest and Recuperation? Where is he stationed now.
Don't expect me home any sooner than I would have been if they were fighting. I still have a lot of time to go.
It's time for my to see if I can scrounge a cup of coffee from the mess hall.
P.S. I found my calendar.
Love
Eddie
