Dear Mom and Dad,

We have to get up at 5:45 a.m. now. This morning as part of our training plan, we had to run four miles.

This afternoon I was in the Marine sector. I stopped to watch a baseball game between the 7 th Division and I Corps. The 7 th won 10 - 4. While I was there I met Marvin Shefki from Calumet City. He is in the Marines. He's been here since June. Don & Ron know him. He lives across the street from St. Andrew's Church.

I got a letter from you last night.

It was really cold here last night. It's about 85 degrees in the afternoon and about 40 degrees at night.

The food over here isn't too good and we still don't get enough. I ate all the packaged soup that you sent. I was going to save it for the cold weather but I already ate it.

We're being trained just the same as we were in Basic at Ft. Riley. We're being treated the same.

Well, that's all for today—
