Dear Mom and Dad,

Today is Saturday. The General is coming around in about thirty minutes. We, as the Honor Guard have to be out there to throw him a salute. I'm all slicked up, red scarf and all.

I'm having a difficult time getting my feet used to standing for three hours at a time. It's not too bad in the daytime. I can watch the activity in the Battery. At night time, it's cold but I can sit down and "cool it".

We have two posts. One, (I had it the first day) is about a quarter mile out by the Battery. Post Number Two is a little over three miles toward the front. Post 2 is a lonely place at night.

I have to write in the daytime because we're not with the Battery so we can't use the generator for our lights.

Tomorrow is my day off. I think we're going to try to play some baseball.

A couple of trucks went to the rear to pick up our winter issue of clothing this afternoon. We got thirty one replacement into the Battery this afternoon. That's all for now.
