March 3, 1944

Dear Family-

For the empty umpth time I have started to write one of you but something has always prevented me from full filling my grand intentions. By now I hope that you have not only received my note from “somewhere in Newfoundland but also the cable when I arrived “somewhere in England” If you also received a cable from [Ellcey?] you must know that everything turned out alright.

I have several days of unexpected winter sports in [redacted] Best of all were the dog sled rider and just so that haney will be jealous I went skiing through
