The veteran also served in the Medical Administrative Corps. He joined the 7th Regiment of the National Guard in 11/1940. When the Guard was nationalized in 02/1941, he left for Camp Stewart, Georgia. After maneuvers in North Carolina in the fall he was transferred to the 85th Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) from the 207th CAAA. In 11/1942, he attended Officer Candidate School in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. When he was commissioned in January, he was assigned to a Reception Center at Fort Custer in Battle Creek, Michigan which was then moved to Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He then spent time in England and Belgium before being assigned to the 30th Division which took him across the Rhine River and up to the Ruhr River where he was hospitalized for a serious arm infection. Served with a medical supply depot in Liege, Belgium. He was shipped home when the war ended traveling through Le Havre, France and Southampton, England and discharged in 2/1946.
