The son of a very poor Alabama family, Raymond Seay never knew his parents. He spent some time in an orphanage and was eventually raised by his uncle and sister, whom he learned to call "mom," during his adolescence. Seay served on Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. During one furious battle Raymond discovered a new purpose when he found God and started a new spiritual life.
