Dear Cathy + Billy + Lisa,

How’s everyone feeling? I’m pretty good. I heard about the black-out. I had called mommy about 5:15 it must have happened just after I hung up. I’ll bet it was some experience. It was in all the papers down here. I had gone to look at some television after I called the house and they were saying that New York had lost all electricity. I feel sorry for those people on the subway and in elevators. Where were you at the time?

Well I’m still at the Reception Center I thought I would ship out at the beginning of the week but I’m still here. I should leave any day now. I’m finished with all my processing Got my shots today. They give them with a gun now. It’s a lot better than the needles. I had to escort some guy around today. He had been A.W.O.L. and the sargent[sic] told me to take him around for his processing. I had to take
