Dear Billy,

Hope everyone is okay, Im fine. Well where at base camp right now. We were supposed to go out today but they posponed[sic] it. They say now it will be the 7th. We have had a little rest some comming[sic] back from Tay Ninh. The rumor is that we will be going to the Ho Bo woods. But its’s not positive yet. We lost a man last night. They sent an ambush out. Just one paltoon[sic]. They went in trucks (A.P.C.’s) They got hit as they were going out with a recoilless rifle. The driver got killed and another man got wounded. The V.C. are starting to get equipment to use against us. Up at Tay Ninh two of our trucks got hit with recoilless rifles. No one was killed but a few guys got wounded.

You asked me about new trucks. We have them now. The mortar is mounted right inside and its a lot faster to set up. There faster (speed) than the other ones we use to
