29 Feb 44

Darling;

Here I am again - am writing in gobs cause in the next six weeks I'm not going to have much time to write much.

Just had supper + went to the Px to get you a little something for our anniversary but the darn thing closes at 5 This sure is a funny place. But I'll get it at noon to morrow if I'm not tied up on some detail. Don't scold cause you're going to get one whether you like it or not - so there.

Boy these planes sure are beautiful. They roar overhead day + night. Noisy enough so that I should be able to sleep.

I arrived at Las Vegas at 12:30 Monday night + loafed around till 2:30 when an army truck came after me. The field is about 7 miles from Las Vegas. The bus service for soldiers is lousy - one bus an hour - + I thought Camp Grant was poor - Hardly anyone goes to town because all they have to offer practically is drinking which stops at midnight + gambling which stops at 2:00 AM. Honey they have slot machines everywhere - bus depot, restaurants, movies, (lottery of course) hotels, grocery stores and heaven knows of the places I didn't observe.
