22 Jan 45

Hi Darlin,

Finally got back this afternoon + the mud is really atrocious around this so called Sunny Italy.

There's not too much I can tell you about the preceding days but I'll give you what is allowed.

All our mail of course was sent back with M.I.A. on it, which of course is not so good. At least we received the mail of the last two days. Received 3 of your letters of Jan 9.10.11 and was amazed but pleased that you didn't know we were shot down. I'm hoping you will get my letters before you're notified, that we were missing.
